Summer Music Series - The Handshakers

August 18th, 2019

Summer Music Series

The Hand Shakers

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

The Handshakers’ Americana music revolves around the ensemble sound of acoustic guitarist/singer Mike Bynum’s driving acoustic rhythm guitar, Aleister Paige’s pedal steel guitar and Barney Doyle’s subtle electric guitar stylings. The elegant melodies played by the threesome are complemented by the subtle grooves of veteran Humboldt rhythm section: electric bassist Gary Davidson and drummer Paul DeMark.

Davidson currently plays with local bands Home Cookin’, Old Dog, Play Dead and Rosewater. He has toured with Christine Lakeland, an integral part of J.J. Cale's Band. DeMark also plays with the Pd3 jazz trio. He has toured with Chicago blues legends Sunnyland Slim and Hubert Sumlin, as well as Mike Bloomfield and Paul Butterfield.

Doyle has toured as a member of the Mickey Hart Band. Hart is a founding member of The Grateful Dead.

The band, based in Arcata, released its first album of all-original material in January 2019 titled The Handshakers. Attachments area
