Humboldt Botanical Garden’s big annual Spring Plant Sale arrives Saturday, May 4th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission to the Garden is FREE. This year we have Something for Everyone, big people, little people, birds bees and butterflies. Carnivorous plants are fun, so be sure to check out the rare Mexican butterwort, Pinguicula moranensis. HBG’s collection has multiplied to the point where we can offer these easy care, very beautiful plants for a good price. Other unusual, exciting plants also include the rare papillio amaryllis, a few banana trees and angel trumpets.
Also new to this year’s plant sale will be a nice selection of small house plants and terrarium gardens, as well a the ever popular, but hard to find, string of hearts, Ceropegia woodii.
If you like plants that smell good and taste good there will be an exciting collection of citrus plants, as well as assorted lavenders, and culinary herbs. Who can resist chocolate cosmos and lemon verbena? Like shade? Check out our Hosta collection.
At the plant sale you will find a plethora of 1-gallon and 4-inch perennials for birds, bees and butterflies. A special deal awaits kids wanting to grow a strawberry patch or sunflower garden.
Knowledgeable HBG members will be on site to answer questions to help you find just the right plant. Also available will be assistance in carry purchases to the parking lot.
Want a good deal? Friday night, May 3, from 5 – 7 p.m., is the Members Only Preview Sale: members enjoy wine and cheese, and get first choice of plants. Not a member? Come Friday evening and join the Garden. Become a member, support the Garden, and get first choice! These great plants go fast!
