The Humboldt Botanical Garden is currently under construction on a 44.5 -acre site south of Eureka near the Humboldt Bay adjacent to the College of the Redwoods. Funding, construction and administration of the Garden is under the leadership and sponsorship of the HBGF. The Garden is designed and will operate to fulfill the following mission:

The Garden shall provide a public display of documented native and exotic plants adapted to the local climate in a planned landscape that will provide an educational, aesthetic, and tranquil experience for visitors.

The Garden shall work to advance global plant conservation efforts, horticultural, botanical, and ecological knowledge; propagation and dispersal of adapted plants; and community education and development. Sustainable practices shall protect and conserve resources and enhance habitat for the local creatures compatible with the Garden Mission.

The Wollemi Pine is one example of a rare specimen on exhibit at the Garden.

The Garden is designed to stand alone and will provide a beautiful and functional botanical site for Humboldt County and Northwestern California. Installation of core gardens are underway -- setting hardscape and significant plantings. Completed sections of the Humboldt Botanical Garden are open to the public for Special Events and tours, by appointment. Completed Gardens include:  Sun Valley Greenhouse, Lost Coast Brewery Native Plant Garden, "All Happy Now" earth sculpture, Wildberries Natural Riparian Area.  Upcoming garden plantings include the Moss Family Temperate Woodland Garden and the Dedekam Ornamental Terrace Garden.

Our funding campaign continues with the goal of raising $6 million-total for the construction of the Garden. To date gifts of cash, pledges, or in-kind services have been received for which HBGF thanks its Members and Supporters! The Garden still needs $2 million to open.  Please see Contributions for more information.  Help the Garden Grow--join others in your community in this adventure of a lifetime, and realize the dream of world-class botanical garden!
