As April showers bring May flowers, mark your calendar for “Butterflies and Blooms,” Humboldt Botanical Garden’s big annual Spring Plant Sale arrives Saturday, May 5th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission to the Garden is FREE. The Plant Sale theme of Butterflies and Blooms means creating habitat for butterflies, bees and other pollinators in the home garden. Last summer the Garden opened the new Butterfly Exhibit to great applause and the butterflies and their cycles of life will be back this year. In preparation, the Plant Sale not only offers a huge selection of succulents, citrus, salvias and mimulus for hummingbirds, but 1/4 of the Sun Valley Floral Farms Greenhouse will be filled with more than 150 varieties of butterfly/pollinator nectar and larval plants, including healthy, organically grown milkweed for monarch butterflies.
Knowledgeable HBG members will be on site to answer questions to help you find just the right plant. Also available will be assistance in carry purchases to the parking lot.
Want a good deal? Friday night, May 4, from 5 – 7 p.m., is the Members Only Preview Sale: members enjoy wine and cheese, and get first choice of plants. Not a member? Come Friday evening and join the Garden. Become a member, support the Garden, and get first choice! These great plants go fast!
